The Gold Standards Summit 2009: Transforming Clinical Education in Audiology convened January 12-14, 2009, at Disney's beautiful Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. There were 164 participants with representatives from 65 of the 73 AuD programs in addition to representatives from preceptor sites, industry, licensing boards, accreditation agencies, certification bodies, and other allied professional organizations. These key stakeholders met to address critical issues underlying the effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of clinical audiology education. Among the presentations were the preliminary results of a recent AuD program survey, which 64 of the programs completed.

The other initiative is an audiology education feature in Audiology Today. Stay tuned for more information as these projects are developed.
Future Summit Outcomes
Members of the GSS09 Task Force and the Clinical Education Subcommittee are developing recommendations for focused initiatives that will help continue the on-going efforts towards excellence in audiology education. Information will be made available as future initiatives are developed.
